If you feel you improperly received a parking citation from the Chattanooga Parking Authority, you may appeal the citation by filling in the citation number, vehicle state, and vehicle license plate number in the blanks on the left. All citations must be appealed within the 10-day period specified in Section 24-331(c) of the Chattanooga City Code.
The appeal will initially be reviewed on an administrative basis, to determine if it can be dismissed by the parking staff from the information you have submitted. Examples of administrative dismissals are for broken meters or missing signage. You will be advised in writing either by mail or email of the results of the administrative review. During this time period, the citation will not be subject to late penalties or notices. The appellant will be notified in writing by mail or email of the results of the review.
If the appellant is dissatisfied with the results of the administrative review, the appellant may request a hearing before the independent Chattanooga Parking Citation Enforcement Hearing Board. The request for a hearing must be made within 7 days of the issuance of the administrative review. The hearing will be held within 30 days of the submittal of the request, as provided in City Code Section 24-335(a). The ruling of the Board will be sent in writing within 7 days of the hearing. As an alternative to attending the hearing, the appellant may submit information in writing, or may request that the hearing be held via telephone.
If the appellant is dissatisfied with the decision of the Hearing Board, the appellant may request that the citation be referred to the Chattanooga City Court for adjudication.
